Guy’s Golden Years: A Challenge for Everyone

Who would not know Ramon Magsaysay? He is the seventh president of the Philippines particularly during its golden years. He’s the only one to make the Malacañang Palace as the “house for everyone”, the first to become a country head even he came from the so-called “middle classes” and considered as the only president who bridges the governmental authority towards the Filipino people. Pres. Monching was the darling of the people, the man of the masses, an ideal family man and indeed a good leader.

Magsaysay’s way of leading his people is such a great thing. I can say that he’s my most sought-after president not because of what other say about him but how I look at his simple ways. He’s not only a responsible family man and the idolized president after all, he’s a person of great things but definitely ordinary. He’s just the perfectly imperfect man like everyone. I know that behind those nice comments said about him are still flaws that can be beneficial in such a way. One of those flaws is the “amboy” matter and even though, I can’t identify all. I can clearly say that his negativities also exist. I may not able to enumerate every single scratch of his identity but let us not look only towards the whole Magsaysay idolatry but also, let us consider the thorny paths that he walked.

Guy wasn’t the best creation and he worked hard to become the “man of the masses” we are hailing nowadays. Like him our imperfections are absolutely visible. But by looking at his examples, I can say that we too can be what Guy had become. Generally, we Filipinos idolized persons as if they were highly great but idolizing someone doesn’t end that way also; we have to look up to them as our role model. We must not be merely fans but also followers. Following his path will definitely bring us to a better status in life.

If we want Magsaysay’s glorious days, it is up to us to make a move. His government was at the pedestal not only because he’s an intelligent and nice president but also because he had the whole society along his back to hold him. The Filipino people must do their part. We must not blame the government alone for the insurgencies happening to the country. As members of this race, we are all responsible for this not-so-good economy. We must stop saying the “what ifs” because it would never come up to reality. What we must do is start the long way that is waiting for us. Our country is still on the Third World countries and we must be positively courageous not to belong to those in the Fourth World. Chances only come once and we can’t hold time with our hands. The future doesn’t exist after all. It is the result of what we make today and that makes every moment important. Every decision and every move counts in the long run. However, it is not only the job of citizens but the government as well. Lead your people to the right system. They must put the funds in its proper objectives and they must do their jobs. People work so hard to pay them high salary. Don’t waste the every sweat and tears that fell. The Filipino populace is the real master of this society. Perform politics the ethical way it should be. Always keep in mind that real thing don’t exist in the material world solely but when we died, we get the more essential type of it- that “something” that won’t depreciate nor be lost.

Getting on top is not a single proprietorship business. Rather it is an enormous corporation. Many things are done great when everyone bond together for a common cause. If we will be able to conquer this hard challenge of time, we don’t know...maybe, we can live in another golden reign of the Philippines. Maybe not only gold, we can even make it platinum. Everyone must do something good to aim our Filipino dream. It will be beneficial for everyone that’s why the challenge is calling for everyone’s attention. It is not our words, complaints and moans that define our future; it is our decisions and most importantly, our ACTIONS that make it. It’s not only a mere future but more importantly, it will be our children’s present. Would you want them to blame our generation for the insurgencies that they will suffer because of our irresponsibility?
